Long nights

although my body is an altar
longing for its saint
(to come and reign on me!)
my heart is an open wound
that nobody can fill in.

although we spent nights praying in the dark,
our bodies as rosaries
that we can’t get apart,
when I come alone to bed
I’m as empty as in the start.
